Professional development programme under way for judo coaches

A six-day professional development programme for regional coaches, organised by the Azerbaijan Judo Federation (AJF), is under way at the Sumgayit Judo Training Centre.

Fanat.az reports that the programme’s main aim is to refresh coaches’ theoretical and practical knowledge and enhance their professional skills in modern training methods, competition rules and various aspects of athlete preparation.

The training covers technical and practical topics such as kumi-kata, osaekomi, shime-waza, transitions from tachi-waza to ne-waza, judo-specific physical conditioning on the tatami and developing tactics against opponents. Coaches are also expanding their knowledge of new refereeing rules, the “Judo Manager” system and physical conditioning.

The programme is not limited to training on the tatami. Sessions are also planned on adopting the right psychological approach when working with adolescents, managing social media and communicating with the media.

At the end of the six-day programme, participants’ knowledge and skills will be assessed, and coaches who successfully complete the course will receive certificates
